TAC Holidng is a parent company to several audiology and aural care businesses, and we are looking to recruit several permanent Aural Nurse Practitioners throughout the UK to join our growing ENT nurse-led wax removal team. These are excellent opportunities for clinical professionals who have gained experience in similar roles and are now looking for the next step in their careers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. JOB DETAILS

Job Title: Aural Nurse Practitioner

Accountable to: Head of ENT Nursing & Clinical Lead


2. JOB SUMMARY

- To work as a skilled member of the Aural Care Team, to provide a high standard of holistic patient care.

- To perform in an expanding role and to perform clinical ear care and on-going treatment to patients attending with a range of simple and complex ear conditions.

- To undertake nurse led clinical ear care clinics in one or more of our clinical locations

- Travel to the other businesses within the TAC family

- Ability to promote patient centred care and establish good relationships with patients and families/carers.

- To communicate effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

- To work autonomously within the Aural Care clinic.

- To contribute to the mentoring, training and education of junior staff and lead by example.


3. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

- Registered nurse

- Current NMC registration

- Applicant must hold a clean UK drivers’ license and own a vehicle to travel to our clinics

- Previous post qualification experience desirable

- Experience in ear anatomy and ear irrigation desirable but not essential.

- Experience in working in ENT, Clinic and / or Community desirable but not essential.

- Nurse prescriber desirable – however training on this will be provided following a period of induction.


4. KEY RESULT AREAS

CLINICAL

- To provide the highest standard of specialist nursing care for patients with a range of complex ear conditions.

- To plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individual patients.

- To ensure an on-going welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the patient and their carers.

- To act as an advocate for the patient and their family, providing them with information and support and directing them to the relevant support services where appropriate.

- Ensure the communication of sensitive, complex and contentious information to patients, families/carers are provided with empathy and reassurance.

- To develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide holistic, evidence-based nursing care. This includes expanded role responsibilities, following appropriate training.

- To ensure clinical practice is evidence based or peer reviewed best practice.

- Assist with ongoing education and training other team members


MANAGERIAL

- To take responsibility of own nurse led clinics and to be flexible to cover colleagues annual leave and sickness in other clinics .

- To ensure all patients receive appropriate care.

- To ensure quality care is given by being familiar with TAC Holding's standards of care.

- Ensure that any complaints are dealt with in line with TAC Holding's complaints policy.

- Demonstrate IT skills in the input and retrieval of data.


PROFESSIONAL

- To demonstrate a professional approach to work, and act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times.

- To have knowledge of and adhere to TAC Holding's policies and professional standards. To ensure that team members do likewise.

- To maintain confidentiality surrounding the patients visit and treatment at all times.

- To ensure documentation is complete and up to date, in line with NMC and TAC Holding's policy.

- To meet PREP requirements. To identify own learning needs and to ensure own professional development is maintained by keeping up to date with practice developments within ENT Nursing.

- Maintain mandatory training requirements.

- To participate in staff development within TAC Holding and in-house training activities.


EDUCATIONAL

- Undertake and complete a recognised specialist qualification where available.

- To supervise, orientate learners and new staff

- To act as a mentor for junior staff


HEALTH & SAFETY

In carrying out these duties the employee is required to take responsible care to avoid injury or accident, which may be caused by work.

OTHER

- The post holder must comply with all TAC Holding's policies and procedures.

- The post holder must work within infection control guidelines to ensure that work methods do not constitute a risk of infection either to the health care professional, to the patient or to any person working in/visiting any TAC Holding premises.
